FEROZEPUR CITY
 
Ferozepur is located in southwestern Punjab, about 176 kms west of Chandigarh , and 120 km south of Amritsar, Ferozepur is on the border of Pakistan. Ferozepur City is one of the fastest growing cities in Punjab with a population of two million persons. The attraction of Ferozepur is its living environment.The city is famous for good quality of rice.
 
HISTORY
 
As per the annals of history, ferozeshah tuglaq founded the city in the 14th century. However it is also believed that its founder is ferozekhan, one of the bhatti chiefs. Having a rich heritage, it indeed has maintained its name in the undivided India it has been a centre of trade and commerce.
 
PLACES OF INTEREST
 
Ferozepur with the numerous holy shrines, historical places and memorials in and around, has earned a rare status. The hallowed samadhis of the martyrs bhagat singh, rajguru and sukhdev, the saragarhi, gurudwara are some of the places piligrimage showing the spirit of universal brotherhood.

MONUMENTS
 
1. Samadhi of Shahhed Bhagat Singh ,Rajguru and Sukhdev
Dead bodies of the hero- martyrs, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who had been executed at Lahore on March 23, 1931 by the British Government for raising a revolution against the British Government, were cremated stealthily in the darkness of the night here. Every year on March 23, a fair is held when thousands of people gather to pay homage to the great martyrs
     
2. Saragarhi Memorial Gurudwara
Commemorates the battle, which took place on Samana Ridge of the Hindu Kush and Sulleiman. Ranges in 1897 when 21 soldiers of the 36 Sikh (later 4 Sikhs) regiment had died fighting to the last man against a several times greater force of the local tribal chiefs. The history of the battle is taught in French schools and forms part of the 8 narratives of collective bravery published by UNESCO. On 12th September every year thousands of people and ex-servicemen pay homage to the celebrated heroes here.

1. Gurudwara Droli Bhai
Gurudwara at village Daroli Bhai in Ferozepur district is associated with the sixth Guru Sri Hargobindji. Baba Gurdita his eldest son was born here. A magnificent Gurudwara stands at the spot, in memory of the eldest son of the Sixth Guru. In the Gurudwara, the chola or gown of Guruji is displayed. Besides an iron hot plate is also preserved in the Gurudwara of Daroli Bhai. It is said that Guru cooked chapatis on this hot plate, when he founded a free kitchen on Baisakhi day in this village.
 
BORDER AREA
 
Ferozepur city situated right on the Indo- Pakistan border. It is one of the major border areas that India have with Pakistan.Border security forces host a special parade every day for visitors. It is only event of its type in this entire world world where citizens of these two nations sit extremely close to each other enjoying the flag removal ceremony. This event is not seen anywhere in the world. This ceremony also takes place at the wagha border (Amritsar) but people of both nation are hardly able to see each other. It is an treat to watch the entire show.
